Job Title: Caregiver – Homemaker/Personal Care/Companion
Reports To: RN, Care Supervisor, or Care Coordinator
Purpose: To provide companionship, personal care, and light housekeeping in clients’ homes.
Qualifications:
- Driver’s License/Other Government Issued IDs
- Social Security Card
- Car Insurance
- Level 2 Background check
- Negative TB test (PPD or Chest X-Ray) (screens for tuberculosis)
- CPR/BLS Cards
- CNA License or HHA Exam administered by the agency within the first 14 days.
- 24 hours CEUs every 2 years (details below)
Care Responsibilities:
- Personal Care: Bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, feeding, transferring
- Companionship: Emotional support, conversation, activities
- Light Housekeeping: Laundry, dishes, cleaning, trash removal
- Meal Prep: Basic cooking and food preparation
- Medication Reminders: Monitoring and reminding
- Transportation: Arranging or accompanying to appointments
- Errands & Shopping: Groceries and pharmacy pickups
- Incident Reporting: Report changes in condition or behavior
*** Required CEUs (Through Cnazone.com $19.99 for the year).
The CEU’s listed below are mandatory:
- HIV and AIDS (CEU) (1.0 hr)
- Communication with Cognitively Impaired Clients (1.0 hr)
- Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia (1.0 hr)
- HIPAA Rules and Regulations (1.0 hr)
- Resident Rights in Senior Care Settings (1.0 hr)
- Domestic Violence and Elder Abuse (1.0 hr)
- Bloodborne Pathogens, Infection Control (1.0 hr)
- Medical Record Documentation and Legal Aspects (1.0 hr)
- Medical Error Prevention and Safety (1.0 hr)
- Self-administration of Medication (1.0 hr)
- Fraud, Waste and Abuse (CEU) administered by the agency within the first 14 days.
